An attempt at an honest, clear and austere design without decorative artifices just as the spirit of the Valencian orchard. We also tried to optimize the printing process to have the least amount of inks possible when editing. We have designed this book for the University of Valencia, the Universitat Politècnica de València and the CSIC Office in Valencia within the VLC/Campus (Valencia International Campus of Excellence).
In the public presentation (June 3rd 2014 in La Nau de València) there was a round table which brought together Antonio Ariño (Vice Chancellor for Culture and Equality, University of Valencia), María Victoria Vivancos (Vice Chancellor for Student and University Extension of the Polytechnic University of Valencia), José Pío Beltrán ( Institutional Coordinator of the CSIC Office in the Valencian Region), Joan Romero (Professor of Human Geography at the University of Valencia) and Miguel Lorenzo, photojournalist.
The book praises the Valencian ‘horta’ (orchard), the natural and social epicentre from which a commitment to contribute to the territory quality of life is articulated using the most important resources of the three institutions which were involved in this study. The project was coordinated by Maria Josep Picó Garcés and Magda Ruiz Brox, designed by Estudio Menta whilst its graphic editing was directed by Tania Castro and Miguel Lorenzo.
